The two ETFs
These are the only instruments used by the paper trackers and calculator. Both follow the S&P 500 family of index exposure, giving the Bull and Bear sides a consistent long-history comparison.

Why cash is here
The tracker never holds the Bull and Bear ETFs at the same time. That would make the signal argue with itself. The winning meter starts at 50, and distance beyond 50 becomes ETF allocation through a gentle conviction curve. Each tracker reaches 100% at its own historical cap; the remainder stays in cash.
These instruments power paper simulations, not recommendations. The Bear ETF targets the opposite of each trading day’s underlying index move. Over several days or months, compounding, volatility and fees can make its result differ substantially from simply reversing the index’s overall return.
